About Akileine

For more than 80 years, Akileine has done one thing only: care for your feet. A rare specialty, born in Monaco at Laboratoires Asepta, and one that Laboratoire Larima has been bringing to Quebecers and Canadians since 1979.

Monte-Carlo, late 1930s: the croupiers' aching feet

It all began around the tables of the Casino de Monte-Carlo. Croupiers spent their evenings standing in polished shoes and ended the night with hot, aching feet. They turned to Henri Adam, a pharmacist in the Principality, who prepared a cream for them based on yarrow (achillea), the fortifying plant that would give Akileïne its name, with a nod to Achilles' heel. The relief was such that the cream was soon nicknamed "the toothpaste for feet".

Monaco, 1943: a house devoted to the foot

In 1943, Henri Adam joined forces with Paul Lacroix and his childhood friend Henri Mas to found Laboratoires Asepta in the Principality of Monaco. From the very start, its field was foot care: dry skin that cracks, heels that harden, perspiration, the fatigue of long days on your feet. At a time when feet were the forgotten part of personal care, Asepta made them its sole specialty, and the family that founded it still runs it today, three generations later.

That expertise is built with foot care professionals. Akileine formulas are developed and put to the test alongside podiatry professionals, and several are tested under dermatological supervision. This rigour is what led to exclusive ingredients such as Silk Lipesters and the ANP 2+ complex, protected by Asepta patents.

The brand of foot care professionals

Akileine is first and foremost a brand aimed at foot care professionals. Podiatrists, foot care nurses and orthotists choose it because they're looking for a serious brand, with technical, high-performance products proven in the daily practice of foot care. Its Sports Akileine division, for its part, supports runners, hikers and cyclists in sports stores. It's this brand trusted by professionals, made in Monaco since 1943, that is now available directly to you, on akileine.ca.

Still made in Monaco today

Every Akileine product is still formulated and made in Monaco, in the facilities of Laboratoires Asepta. One house, one production site, constant quality control from the choice of raw materials right down to the tube that arrives at your door. Many formulas now contain over 90% ingredients of natural origin, with no parabens.

One colour per line, one need per line

Akileine chose clarity. Each colour matches a need: the blue line for dry feet, the red line for tired, hot feet, the green line for perspiration and odour. Laboratoire Larima: exclusive Canadian distributor since 1979

Based in Terrebonne, just north of Montreal, Laboratoire Larima has imported and distributed Akileine in Canada since 1979. For more than 45 years, our team has been the one supplying foot care practices and clinics across Quebec and Canada, as well as sports stores for the Sports Akileine line, answering questions from professionals and their customers, and making sure every product is labelled in French and English in accordance with Canadian regulations.

We're a Quebec company on a human scale. When you write to us, a real person in Terrebonne writes back. When you order on akileine.ca, your parcel ships from our own warehouse. We also distribute Ecrinal, the nail and hair care line from the same Monaco house.
